Ingredients:

  • 400g minced beef

  • 400g minced pork

  • 300ml extra virgin olive oil

  • 1 diced brown onion

  • 6 diced garlic cloves

  • 1 bottle of tomato sauce

  • 1 cup of stock

  • A covering of basil

  • Pepper and salt to taste

Method:

  1. Heat oil in a large pot

  2. Add diced onions and cook on medium high until golden brown, continuously stirring

  3. Add diced garlic and cook for a minute continuously stirring

  4. Turn down the heat and cook for another minute, still stirring

  5. Gradually add meat and cook for around 3 minutes

  6. Add tomato sauce and cook for 3 minutes, stirring lightly, then let it simmer

  7. Add stock and carrots, cook it for a minute

  8. Add salt, pepper and basil to taste

  9. Finally let it simmer on low heat for as long as you have! Around 4 hours is best.
     

Serves: lots!!

Cook time: 4 hours

Total time: 4.5 hours
